Background
Nestled in the breathtaking Picos de Europa, a picturesque camping park in the north of Spain welcomes thousands of visitors every peak season. With four main sections—Around, Camping, Small Bungalows, and Touristic Apartments—the park is a haven for nature lovers and adventurers. Accommodating up to 1000 people simultaneously, it offers not only a serene escape but also a need for reliable internet, especially for guests who mix leisure with remote work. However, the park's previous wireless solution struggled to meet these demands.
Pain Points
The old wireless bridges, supplied by a different brand, fell short in delivering quality signal coverage. Tourists encountered frustrating connectivity issues, making it difficult to enjoy entertainment or work remotely. Several areas within the park lacked Wi-Fi entirely, leaving some guests without internet access.
As the park prepared for future growth, management recognized the need for sustainable upgrades, including the transition from a 200M bandwidth to a 3G ingress bandwidth. They required high-performance devices that could offer reliable internet today and adapt to future expansions effortlessly.
Requirements
1. High-performance devices to enhance guests' internet experiences—whether for entertainment or work.
2. Extended Wi-Fi coverage to reach previously uncovered areas across the park.
3. Future-proof solution to accommodate increasing bandwidth and additional coverage without significant overhaul.
The Ruijie Reyee AirMetro Solution
To meet these needs, Ruijie Reyee offered its innovative AirMetro solution, perfectly suited for delivering strong, reliable wireless connections across expansive areas like Picos de Europa. The deployment included:
1 x RG-AirMetro 550G-B
1 x RG-ANT13-360 Antenna
5 x RG-AirMetro 460G Bridges
Deployment Details
Given the park's natural environment—with tall, dense trees and high-voltage power lines—a solution was crafted using two bridge groups: Point-to-Point (PTP) and Point-to-Multipoint (PTMP).
PTP Bridge: Two AirMetro 460G units were deployed between the reception area and the Touristic Apartments, covering a distance of approximately 500 meters.
PTMP Station: One AirMetro 550G-B paired with a 360° antenna broadcasts signals in all directions, expanding coverage to remote areas.
Three CPEs (Customer Premises Equipment) were placed strategically across the park:
1. Near the swimming pool.
2. In the camping area.
3. Midway up the hiking trail, ensuring consistent coverage even in remote, elevated spots.
Partner Feedback
Despite initial concerns about the challenges posed by high-voltage lines and dense trees, the Ruijie Reyee solution exceeded expectations. As Manuel from ALEA Telecomunicaciones remarked:
“The biggest problem was the magnetic field of the high-voltage line and the leafy trees in the way. But we saw the bridges working, and they didn’t disappoint. The omnidirectional antenna allowed us to connect several access points, and the performance has been rock-solid.”
With signal strength reaching an impressive -50dBi, the park's new network offers stable connections, even in previously problematic areas. German tourists, in particular, praised the network for its ability to support remote work without interruptions.
Results
1. Replacing the old devices with Ruijie Reyee's AirMetro solution brought immediate improvements:
• Enhanced network stability in challenging conditions, with no performance drops.
• Consistent signal strength, even through dense tree cover and power line interference.
• Positive guest feedback, highlighting the park's new capability to meet the growing demand for remote work and entertainment.
2. The PTMP solution simplifies potential network expansions, and makes future updates easy. Management is already planning to extend Wi-Fi coverage to even more areas, ensuring a seamless experience for all visitors.
3. Convenient Cloud Management
Beyond improved connectivity, Reyee's Cloud platform allows the park to manage its entire network remotely. The centralized system not only oversees all Ruijie devices but also manages connected terminal devices, ensuring a hassle-free operational experience.
Conclusion
Picos de Europa camping park now offers guests a stable and enjoyable internet experience, whether they are relaxing by the pool or tackling work emails from their bungalow. The success of the Ruijie Reyee AirMetro solution demonstrates how advanced network technology can overcome natural obstacles and deliver long-term value to both park operators and guests alike.
